4.0.1 Death Knight Blood Tank Talent Spec

Looking to hit the ground running with the all new 4.0.1 patch?  How about starting things off with this level 79 Blood Tank spec, which gets you the basics of a good build, at least what worked well on the public test realm.

This build also focuses on Rune Strike, which continues to be a primary threat builder moving into 4.0.1 and beyond.  However, if you are looking for a bit more of survivability and less on the threat scale, then perhaps consider putting some points into improved Blood Tap.

  4. I have a spec that seems to be working on the live servers as of 4.0.1 patch. Still working on the best rotation. I have a few that i am trying and i will add them to this once i have narrowed down the best 1 for single target and best for mobs.

  5. Got to say, been using this spec on my tank and it is amazingly simple. Tanking seems so much easier on the Death Knight than was prepatch 4.0.1.

Maybe it's just from the 5 month break i took, hard to say.

  6. Why would you not spec into Improved Blood Tap?

Our set bonus (Scourgelord) gives us 12% damage reduction every time we use Blood Tap.

So basically every 30 seconds, we can refresh an additional 12% damage redutction (which lasts 20 seconds, wait 10 secs, and cast again), Simply put, using this skill gives us 12% damage mitgation for 40 seconds of every minute when spec'd into this talent.

And let me guess, you spec'd into Aboms Might to "increase your threat", right?

This is not a great tank build guys.

  7. Useful comment and valid point. This becomes more of a savings once you get into full T10, but for those not focused on Raiding, it's less of an issue.

Most likely this will need to be reviewed again sooner than later, for points like what you mentioned. Also, depending on how challenging the 5-man dungeons are in Cata, we might need some other talents left off the table in this build.

    Thanks for your input.
